Sergey Yashin was born 7 Novermber, 1947.

In 1967 he graduated from the Volkov Drama School (Yaroslavl);

In 1967-1969 – actor in the Novosibirsk Young Spectator’s Theatre;In 1974 graduated from the directing department of The Russian University
of Theatre Arts (the course of A. Goncharov);

In 1975-1985 – director at the Russian Academic Youth Theatre;

In 1985-1987 – director at the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre;

Since 1987 – Chief Director, and since 1998 – Artistic
Director of the Moscow Gogol Theatre.
