Vladimir Guskov

Vladimir Guskov graduated from the famous Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute in 2009. He successfully passed the entrance examinations to several prestigious Russian theatres. The artistic leader of the Vakhtangov theatre of that period of time Rimas Tuminas himself noticed the young talented actor and invited him to join his company. But Vladimir chose another way because his mother, extremely popular theatre and cinema actress Lidia Velezheva already worked at the Vakhtangov theatre. Vladimir wanted to start an independent carrier at the Mayakovsky Theatre in Moscow. Rimas Tuminas commented: “That’s a pity, though to deny the Vakhtangov Theatre is a strong and brave decision. I respect it. But still: it’s a pity”.

For 15 years Vladimir Guskov played leading roles in many productions of the Mayakovsky Theatre. Ye also worked with Anatoly Shuliev, the present chief-director of the Vakhtangov Theatre.

Rimas Tuminas often recited a wise thought by the French poet Pierre de Ronsard: “All the world’s a stage, we are all actors against our will, Almighty Fate assigns roles, and the Heavens watch our play”. So, in 2025, Vladimir Guskov joins the Vakhtangov Theatre team and the cast of the iconic Rimas Tuminas’s production ‘Eugene Onegin’.
