Vakhtangov Theater shows in London Tuminas’s Uncle Vanya

 The hundredth performance of Uncle Vanya by the Vakhtangov State
Academic Theater staged by renowned director, artistic director of the theater,
Rimas Tuminas will be held on 5th of November in London, the press service of the theater
reported to the RIA Novosti.

Vakhtangov
Company was invited to show their version of the famous Chekhov play in London’s West End. The
performance will be played at the Noel Coward Theatre for six times from 5thto 10th of November.

In the
unanimous recognition of theater critics, this performance was a major event in
the cultural life of Russia.
Theater critics have noted that in this work has well come together everything,
i.e. extraordinary thinking of director, skills of actors, set design and
music, which provided not only the recognition of professionals, but huge
audiences success. Vakhtangov’s Uncle
Vanya won the most prestigious theater award “Golden Mask” and
was recognized as the best performance of Russia in 2011. Over the next three
years after the premiere (debut was on the Vakhtangov stage on September 2,
2009) the performance traveled almost half the world, and it was a success everywhere.

The play has
a brilliant cast: Sergei Makovetsky, Vladimir Simonov, Lyudmila Maksakova,
Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Galina Konovalova, Anna Dubrovsky.

The
current performance of Vakhtangov Company in London – is the second tour of the theater in
the British capital this year. In April, the theater was invited to the
Shakespearean Festival Globe to Globe with the Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure by Yuri Butusov. And
this work was evaluated by London
critics as one of the best performances of the prestigious festival.
