A bold and intriguing theatre experiment: two actresses with a rich creative biography, representatives of the older generation of the Vakhtangov Theatre, enter the chamber space of the “Studio” Stage for the sake of an extremely sincere dialogue with the audience.

We will talk, of course, about the theatre, about actors’ destinies, the life on stage and behind the scenes, about joys, victories and sorrows.

The THEATRE, as it has been proven for centuries, becomes the exquisite magnifying glass that reveals human problems most clearly. “The Leading Role” features the theme of growing up, the rapid flight of time… and the theme of forgiveness.

The heroines, sworn friends (or enemies), have been working at the same theater for aldeady 45 years. Side by side, they have walked a long path in life and now, for the first time in almost half a century, they decide to have a frank conversation. Perhaps, if they find the courage to openly express their pain, they will eventually gain the strength to live and create further.
