The Vakhtangov theater is already celebrating its 91 anniversary. After a loud Jubilee it seemed that the theatre was going to rest a little, to live its ordinary working life, but September has come, and after the traditional company meeting, we are again plunged into a whirlpool of events: the opening of the first studio of the Vakhtangov theater, premiere of “Common Business” directed by V. Ivanov, Y. Lyubimov’ anniversary, an evening consecrated to the memory of Peter Naumovich Fomenko, evening in memory of Alyosha Zavyalov, revival of the updated edition of the newspaper “Vahtangovets”, online broadcasting of performances of theater, sightseeing tours about the theater, touring with the play “Uncle Vanya” in London – and all these events are just two last months of the theatre life.Almost each free room of the theater today is occupied by the rehearsals: Rimas Tuminas – rehearsing “Eugene Onegin”, Michael Tsitrinyak – “Games of the Lonely” (N. Simon’s play “Chapter Two”), Rodion Ovchinnikov for the anniversary of Vladimir Abramovich Etush started rehearsing the play by A. Afinogenov “Mashen’ka”, an evening for the anniversary of Eleanora Petrovna Shashkova is in preparation as well, Oleg Forostenko has started the rehearsals of a play with young actors – the composition based on the stories of Bunin.This is the way our daily work goes. We are happy that the creative activity of our team does not let us get bored, that we have much to be proud of, a lot of work to do, that we have something to hope for, and that there is always something to dream about.Congratulations, Vakhtangov Theater!
