Rimas Tuminas is a Winner of the International Stanislavsky Award for the year 2012

January 16 the International Stanislavsky Award ceremony for the year 2012 to the outstanding cultural workers was held in the hall of the hotel “Baltchug Kempinski”.

Rimas Tuminas’ production “The Haven” staged as a celebration of the Vakhtangov Theatre’s Anniversary, was one of the winners in the category “Event of the season”.

According to the jury decision, three events took prize in this category. Besides “The Haven”, the award was received by the Memorial Museum “David Borovski workshop”. As one of the jury members, the director Sergei Zhenovach said, “there is no other museum in the world dedicated to a theater artist. Creating of not a mere museum but of the artist’s workshop is a unique event that changed the theater thinking and the theatrical aesthetics”.

Another “Event of the season” is acknowledged a book dedicated to the productions of “The Seagull” and “The Three Sisters” by Anatoly Efros. An award in the category “For an outstanding contribution to the development of Russian theater” the jury unanimously gave to the film and theater actor Sergei Jursky. Two actors – Martin Wuttke and Klaus Maria Brandauer were awarded in the category “For an outstanding contribution into the development of the world theater” .

According to the vice-president of the International Stanislavsky Fund Zeinab Sayed-Zadeh, the next year will be dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Stanislavsky. All programs and fund events are going to be marked by this date.
