19 March 2013

A great interest about the Vakhtangov theatre is aroused not only among
Muscovites, but also among residents of different regions of Russia and abroad.
It has especially increased with the appointment of Rimas Tuminas to the post of
Artistic director. The theater became a constant participant of many
prestigious theater festivals in Russia, the UK, Spain, Israel, Turkey, Greece,
Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, etc.Touring plans of
the theater are aimed to expand cultural boundaries between cities and
countries, to introduce to the public not only the productions of the Vakhtangov
Theatre, which became hits of the past seasons, but with quite new,
experimental, recently appeared on the stage of the First Studio of the
Vakhtangov Theater as well.In

particular excitement for Vakhtangov theatre – it was a city, where M.Lermontov
loved to come, where many of his works “swarmed”, where at the foothills of
Mashuk Mountain is a place where the poet was killed at a duel and where at the
Pyatigorsk cemetery his body is buried. This trip will also be
significant due to the fact that on June 8 Vakhtangov will participate
