Tour of the Vakhtangov Theatre to Pyatigorsk.

June, 7 to 13, 2013 in Pyatigorsk, with the support of presidential envoy
to the North Caucasus Federal District, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian
Federation and with the assistance of the Government of Stavropol the XI, the
festival “Theatres of Russia’s small towns” took place.Festival will open on June 7 with the Vakhtangov theatre play “The
Masquerade” after M. Lermontov, directed by Rimas Tuminas. Stavropol State
Operetta Theater is selected as a venue for the contest presentation of the
play.This event is of particular excitement among the Vakhtangov theatre company.
This is a city where M.Lermontov loved to come, where many of his works were
created, where by the foothills of Mashuk Mount the duel of the poet happened
and this is where his body is buried on Pyatigorsk cemetery.Moreover, this trip is be significant by the fact that on June 8 the Vakhtangov
company took part in the opening ceremony of the monument to the great founder
of the theater, its director and teacher Eugene Vakhtangov, which took place in
the city of Vladikavkaz.
