7 September 2013

At the Vakhtangov theatre they haven’t seen a children’s performance for quite a long time. Not only the audience, but also the Vakhtangov company have long dreamed of  its creation. Not every director is ready to take up the staging for young audience. After all, a children’s performance in  the Vakhtangov theatre – is a big responsibility. Longtime fans of  the  theater  may even remember the performance “No cross, no crown” (1954 ), “Cinderella” (1966 ),  “Puss in Boots” ( 1974),  “Pooh ! Pooh ! Pooh” (1992 ), “Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves” (1995):  these performances are  included in the golden fund of  the Vakhtangov Theatre repertoire.Vladimir Ivanov is a leading theatre-director and performer of  a part of  the  Cat in the first edition of  “Puss in Boots”  in 1974.  He decided to adapt for stage the long-awaited children’s performance. Today’s  “Puss in Boots”  is not a re-edited performance. This is a new stage-version of the fairy-tale by Charles Perrault, created by director Vladimir Ivanov and Sergey Plotnikov – a screenwriter, playwright and poet. The theatre   Art-director Maxim Obrezkov, musical director and choreographer Tatiana Agayeva and Oleg Glushkov are the co-authors of the production. The cast consists of the fourth-year-students of  the Theatre School named after  B. Shchukin.  It is important to note, that this performance for the students – is a graduation work. Subsequently, the annual input of  the fourth-year students of  the school into the cast of the performance is planned.
