Vakhtangov Theatre added a new section called “Books of the theatre”For many years the museum staff have been assembling a vast library of unique books
of the Vakhtangov Theatre, its legendary directors and actors. All of these
books are carefully stored in the theatre.Now you have the opportunity to read these books. Their electronic version
presented on the page of the “History” in the section “Books of
the theater”The history of the Vakhtangov Theatre is presented in memoirs, photo chronicles,
diaries, letters and scientific materials.

Four editions open the section:N. Gorchakov “The Directing lessons of Vakhtangov” acquaints the
reader with points of view of E. Vakhtangov about the theatrical art, with the
peculiarities of his directing work and theater pedagogy.The second author of the book “Along with Vakhtangov” is Ruben
Simonov – an outstanding actor and director, who headed the theater for many
years. “Working on a book about Vakhtangov in recent years, I was guided
not only by the feeling of love and gratitude to my teacher, but also by the
desire to comprehend the meaning of the principles of this wonderful director
to help the development of theatrical art of these days” – R.Simonov
writes in the preface.Yevgeny Simonov – the son and successor of great Ruben Simonov, chief director
of the Vakhtangov Theater . in the period of its prosperity, was not only the
stage-director of many of the audience’s favourite performances, but also a
playwright, a writer of theatrical sketches, a permanent participant of the
artistic parties and an intellectual in the highest sense of this word. In a
book “Successors of Turandot” the reader gets to know  Evgeny Simonov as a wonderful storyteller. It
is dedicated to unique and different Vakhtangov generations, to the people of
Art, and the golden era of the national theater.The book by O.Treshchev “Anatoly Katsynsky. 30 Dialogues with the actor”
consists of the stories of the People’s Artist of Russia, a Vakhtangov actor, Anatoly
Alexandrovich Katsynsky about his outstanding contemporaries . Through their
vividly depicted images the readers get acquainted with the cultural-
historical process of the mid XX century.Electronic library of Vakhtangov books will gradually get larger. We will
