“Anna Karenina” is a winner of the award “Villanueva 2013”.
January 31, a gala ceremony of the Theatre Award “Villanueva – 2013” was held in Havana. Its founder is the critic and research workshop in the field of theater of the Union of artists and writers of Cuba (UNEAC). The award distribution for both, national and foreign performances, put on Cuban stage, takes place annually, as well as for the most distinguished actors and directors during the year.
During his welcoming speech to the participants, a Chairman of the Section N. Espinosa recalled to the furore sparked among the local audience by the choreographic version of Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina”, showed by the Vakhtangov Theater in the framework of last year’s Theatre Festival in Havana. He emphasized the absolute dramatic value of the production, an ingenious expression of a literary classics’ masterpiece through dance language and gesture, professionalism and credibility of artistic performance, eurhuthmy of technical and creative aspects of the production. The ceremony was attended by representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, prominent Cuban figures of art and culture, journalists of print-, and e-media. The event has caused significant public interest.
