March 10, the 12th award ceremony of the Theatre Union “Hit of the Season” was held at the Theatre Center on Strastnoy. Konstantin Bogomolov and Sergei Epishev are the masters of the ceremony for many years.

Among the winners of the award are: “The earl Orlov” (The Moscow Operetta), “The Good Person of Szechwan”(Pushkin Theatre) , “The Old lord and … ” (the Puppet Theatre of Obraztsova), “The Price” (The Mayakovsky Theatre) and “Eugene Onegin” (The Vakhtangov Theatre).

The production “Eugene Onegin” staged by Rimas Tuminas was awarded the highest prize – the “Big crystal nail” (Grand Prix). The People’s Artist of the USSR Yulia Borisova, the People’s Artist of Russia Yevgeny Knyazev and the Honored Artist of Russia Ruben Simonov came up to take the award.

Yulia Borisova received a great ovation of the audience.

“I was waiting in anxiety of how the Vakhtangov Theatre would be presented. I was so afraid of this, doubting whether I should come on stage and whether it is was necessary. But you were so nice speaking about the Vakhtangov theatre, that I am happy to have come up. And I can’t get used when the audience stands up for ovations. Thank you very much!”- Julia Borisova thanked the audience.
