In the VII Italian Theatre festival in Naples are going to be presented three “Chekhov” performances. Two different versions of the play “Uncle Vanya” – one by Rimas Tuminas and the other by Andrey Konchalovsky – were brought to Naples. Konchalovsky also presented to Neapolitans his theatrical version of “The Three Sisters”. The play “Uncle Vanya” (by A.Chekhov) directed by Rimas Tuminas, which was released on September 2, 2009, is a constant participant of prestigious theatre festivals in Russia and abroad. Its brilliant cast – Sergey Makovetskiy, Vladimir Simonov, Lyudmila Maksakova, Anna Dubrovskaya, Vladimir Vdovichenkov, Galina Konovalova, Eugeniya Kregzhde, Maria Berdinskikh, Yuriy Kraskov and Sergey Epishev – has provided the production with unfailing success among the audience and professional recognition. A Winner of the “Golden Mask” theatrical award, “Uncle Vanya” was recognized as the best performance of Russia of the year 2011. In the four years of its existence since the premiere the company has toured the world. June 21 and 22 the show was presented on stage of the Teatro Mercadante in Naples.
