Completing its 93rd season, the Vakhtangov Theatre traditionally organizes a celebration for its audience right on Arbat Street. A solemn closing of the season has already become an annual holiday on the Arbat Street. The stage is moved outside the theatre doors for the actors’ and audience to get reunited right on the pedestrian street of Arbat. 4 July, while the audience still enjoys the present season premiere “Smile at us, O Lord!” along with the characters of the play traveling from the village of Vilno, the holiday at the main entrance of the Vakhtangov will already be in progress. The authors of this year’s event are Oleg Lopukhov and Vladimir Beldiyan. Poetry and prose, vocal and choreographic gags, funny theatrical sketches performed by Vakhtangov actors, the whole evening will delight Arbat passers-by. Special guests of the celebration: Vasily Lanovoi, Evgeny Knyazev, Elena and Alexander Mikhailov, Anna Antonova, Maria Volkova, Valery Ushakov, Olga Nemogay, Vasily Simonov, and many others. Host of the evening – Eldar Tramov. By the late evening all the cast of the evening performance – Vladimir Simonov, Alexei Guskov, Viktor Sukhorukov, Viktor Dobronravov, Yulia Rutberg and Artistic director Rimas Tuminas – will join the street celebration.
