“Uncle Vanya” visits Georgia.
The Vakhtangov Theatre’s production “Uncle Vanya” is invited to participate in the International Festival of Arts named after M.Tumanishvili Gift, which started on Friday, October 17. The play was presented on October 30 and 31, at the Great Hall of Tbilisi State Academic Russian Drama Theatre named after Alexander Griboyedov. Within the four weeks of the festival’s duration the Tbilisi audience will see outstanding performances from around the world – Russia, France, America, Georgia, Ukraine. The Gift Festival was established in 1997 by the International Arts Festival (Edinburgh, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth) and is based on the decision of its legendary directors. Since its founding the event is supported by such great artists, prominent actors and directors as Peter Brook, Anatoly Vasilyev, Thelma Holt, Vanessa Redgrave, Andrzej Wajda. Gift is the only festival-member of the European Association of Festivals in Georgia. The event is supported by the Ministry of Culture and Monuments Protection and cultural activities of the Centre City Hall.
