A winter book by Dmitry Trubotchkin “Rimas Tuminas. Moscow performances”.

24 December 2014

An art expert, theatre historian and theatre critic Dmitry Trubotchkin has finalized for publication a book in which he analyzes Rimas Tuminas’ Moscow period of creative work. In the preface, the author writes about the causes that have impelled him to work on this edition: “There has been said and written quite a lot on Rimas Tuminas, both in Lithuanian and in Russian; He certainly deserves it as one of the greatest theatre directors of our time. Press and television eagerly keep their eye on him: Rimas is a welcome guest at any program, theatre journalists seek an opportunity to interview him. Therefore, only a scientific research on his performances is lacking. A desire to introduce the phenomenon of Tuminas directed to the academic custom was the first reason to take up this work. Rimas Tuminas has released eleven performances from March 2000 to March 2014 in Moscow. Therefore, the book consists of eleven chapters: one for each performance. The chapters are organized in chronological order; they can be read individually in any order. However, the appearance of the director and the dynamics of his development will shape up only after having read the book, preferably, in order of chapters. I hope my readers will read it with a sympathetic enthusiasm, since we are all bound by a common main goal: an understanding of theatre. Presentation of the book “Rimas Tuminas. Moscow performances ” will be held January 22, 2015.
