The theatre named after Ruben Simonov forms a new branch of Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre of Russia
October 18, 2014. A decision #2012-p of the Russian Government was issued: the Moscow drama theatre named after Ruben Simonov had been converted to the federal property.
This decision had been proposed by the Russian Ministry for Culture. The text of the decision includes the following statement: “The Moscow drama theatre named after Ruben Simonov is targeted by the Ministry for Culture to become a branch of Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre of Russia”.
February 6, 2015. The Russian Ministry for Culture declared: “The theatre named after Ruben Simonov is to be converted and connected to Vakhtangov theatre” (Order #217).
December 23, 2015. According to the mentioned Government decisions the Federal Taxation Service (FTS) was requested to discard the entity named the Moscow drama theatre named after Ruben Simonov.
Several actors of the former theatre had been studying art under supervision of Evgeny Simov (the founder of Ruben Simonov theatre). They participated in the establishment of that theatre. These actors were invited to the Vakhtangov theatre team and joined us on January 1, 2016.

The playhouse of the former theatre named after Ruben Simonov requires serious reconstruction. The general manager of Vakhtangov State Academic Theatre of Russia
Kirill Krok says: “We expect to open the new stage as a branch of Vakhtangov theatre at the end of 2016”.
The new stage, as a part of the Vakhtangov theatre, is to be named in honour of Ruben Simonov.
