On March, 7 a reception was held by Alexandr Kaliagin, the chairman of the Russian Union of Theatre Collaborators (in Russian – STD), in the Theatre Centre of STD. Such receptions are held traditionally every year on the first day of Maslenitsa (a holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent).

The awarding of the Prize of the Chairman of STD is the main event of the reception. The laureate (a theatre team or a theatre collaborator) is being chosen for the Contribution to the Theatre Art Progress in the Russian Federation.

Vladimir Etush, National Artist of the Russian Federation, the brilliant Vakhtangov theatre actor has received the Prize this time. There was a celebration held in his honour.

It’s hard to imagine how many roles have been implied by this marvelous actor during his star career and how many of them have already become historic events in the Russian art.

Alexandr Kaliagin was trembling a bit while giving the Prize to his teacher in artistic profession Vladimir Etush. He shared a story about his years of apprentice and attempts to understand a magnificent talent of Vladimir Etush.
