The Minister for Culture of the Russian Federation Vladimir Medinskiy congratulated the Vakhtangov Theatre 

and said: “I confess that the Vakhtangov Theatre is one of my favorite drama theatres of Russia”. The Minister passed the diploma of the National Artist to Yulia Rutberg. The general manager of the Vakhtangov Theatre Kirill Krok reminded other awards and recognition received by the Vakhtangov actors during the season of 2015 — 2016. 

Kirill Krok mentioned that the tours of the 96th season already began. In September the Vakhtangov Theatre was on tour in Ufa (the capital city of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia) as a part of the Federal programme “Grand Tour” (organized by the Ministry for Culture). In September we’ll have a tour to Greece where the ancient tragedy “Oedipus the King” shall be performed at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (the Amphitheatre on the southwest slope of the Acropolis of Athens). In October we’ll visit Tbilisi (Georgia), Abakan and Kaliningrad (Russia). In December we expect to perform “Oedipus the King” in Saint-Petersburg and to arrive in Tyumen and Chelyabinsk (Russia) with “Eugene Onegin”. In March — “Uncle Vania” and “Mademoiselle Nitouche” in Nizhniy Novgorod (Russia). In April the Vakhtangov theatre is on tour in Vilnius (Lithuania). In May “The Crawfish Cry” is invited to Cyprus. In Summer 2017 we’ll be touring with “Uncle Vania” in the USA (New-York and Boston) and in Canada (Toronto). Other tours are being discussed at the moment.

The artistic director of the Vakhtangov Theatre Rimas Tuminas talked to the audience about Art and Beauty, about Truth hidden in the Beauty. He promised to stage “Faust” after Goethe. And introduced to the public the Europien director Silviu Purcarete who staged “The Imaginary Invalid” after Molier at the Vakhtangov theatre. The first night of the show was scheduled to the same day. The leading part is performed by Sergey Makovetskiy.

Kirill Krok invited everyone to the new theatre space — the ART-CAFÉ — that is going to be launched in October. The territory is intended for evenings with the Vakhtangov Theatre actors, directors, theatre developers and special guest performers; for poetry events; for concerts and etc.

During the nearest period the evenings with Evgeniy Kniazev, Marina Esipenko, Igor Kartashov, Alexander Oleshko, Elena Sotnikova, Yuliya Rutberg, Sergey Makovetskiy, Vasiliy Lanovoy, Irina Kupchenko, Vladimir Simonov, Yuriy Shlykov, Aleksey Guskov, Lidia Velezheva are appointed.
