The French theatre drama laboratory is launched
October, 14 2016. The French theatre drama laboratory started training at the Vakhtangov Theatre. The director Eric Lacascade is going to study a play “We, the heroes” (“Nous, les héros”)by Jean-Luc Lagarce with the Vakhtangov Theatre actors.
Eric Lacascade was born in Lille in 1959. His relatives were not associated with any theatre professions but Eric was fond of the theatre art from his childhood.
In 1983 Eric Lacascade and Guy Alloucherie established the Ballatum Théâtre. In 1997 Eric became the leader of the National Drama Centre in Normandy (Centre Dramatique National de Normandie). During the following 10 years the Centre became well-known all over Europe, participated regularly at the Avignon Festival.
Since 2012 Eric Lacascade is leading the targeted Drama School of the National Theater of Brittany.
Among the performances staged by Eric Lacascade are: “Ivanov”, “The Seagull”, “Three Sisters”, “Platonov”, “Uncle Vania” after Anton Chekhov, “Barbarians” and “Summertime residents” after Maxim Gorky.
This is the first collaboration with Russian actors for Eric Lacascade. The play wasn’t selected accidentally. The plot tells us about theatre, actors, family, society and desire to defend personal freedom. The text of the play is highly contemporary and at the same time resembles Chekhov a lot.
The French theatre dramaturgy laboratory at the Vakhtangov Theatre shall last for two weeks. The further development of the results shall be regarded by the art director of the Vakhtangov Theatre Rimas Tuminas.
