Vakhtangov Theatre celebrates its 96th birthday

13 November 2017

The Russian theatre culture is extremely young compared to the European theatre. This is why 96 years is a respectably long period. It’s remarkable that this time we celebrate the 13th of November with the performance ‘Oedipus Rex’. The ancient tragedy unites the Greek theatre and the Russian theatre. A bilingual ambitious project, a performance about destiny and responsibility of a ruler.

We follow the ideas of Eugene Vakhtangov, the genius establisher of our Theatre. We remember the great Vakhtangov actors and directors of the 20th century and we are making our own way in the future.
