Dmitry Dorliak

Dmitry Lvovich Dorliak was born on March 14, 1912.His ancestors had fled to Russia during the Great French Revolution. His mother – Ksenia Nikolaevna Dorliak was maid of honor at the court of the last Russian Empress Alexandra Feodorovna.Dmitry Dorliak graduated from drama school and joined the troupe of Vakhtangov Theatre.He worked in the theater of Eugene Vakhtangov from 1928 to 1938.In the summer of 1938, during the usual summer vacation, a group of young people organized Vakhtangov small troupe and went on tour in Siberia. One of them was Dorliak. At the end of the tour when the band was somewhere near Lake Baikal, Dima became ill with typhoid fever. The comrades took him to Irkutsk and were allowed to put in a military hospital – the best hospital in central Siberia. Yet doctors have failed …Dmitry Dorliak died in September 1938.
