The Diary of Anne Frank is a historical document. It is a book of the writings from the Dutch language diary kept by Anne Frank while she was in hiding for two years with her family during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands.
Annelies Marie Frank (12 June 1929 – February or March 1945) was born in Frankfurt in a Jewish family. TheFranksfledGermanyin1933. TheysettledinAmsterdam.
In May 1940, Germany invaded the Netherlands, and the occupation government began to persecute Jews by the implementation of restrictive and discriminatory laws; mandatory registration and segregation soon followed.
On the morning of Monday, 6 July 1942, the Frank family moved into their hiding place, a three-story space entered from a landing above the Opekta offices on the Prinsengracht, where some of his most trusted employees would be their helpers. The entrance to the hiding place was concealed behind a movable bookcase.
Anna Frank was describing the life behind the bookcase in her diary and continued writing regularly until her last entry of 1 August 1944. The Franks and their friends were arrested on the 4th of August and moved to different concentration camps.
Only Anne’s father, Otto Frank survived. In 1947 he published Anne’s diary.
