Bourgeois Gentleman (1969)

One of the favorite performances which remained in the repertoire for a long time is Moliere’s “The Bourgeois Gentleman”, a funny, nice, joyful, staged by V. Schlesinger. In the center of this musical production elegantly decorated by V. Dvigubsky, was V. Etush who played Jourdain as a sagacious, manly rough, but at the same time simple-minded, with a still-remaining childish curiosity and boyish amorousness. But this sensible man was puffed up by insuperable thirst for grandeur. This caused uncontrollable laughter of servant Nicole which was played by L. Maksakova as a bright, cheerful girl, the main organizer of leg pulling of her master along with brisk Covielle — М. Lanovoy.
