Afraid of troubles – cannot have luck (1954)

S. Ya. Marshak created a nice, optimistic fairy tale: everyone took Grief off their hands by deceit: woodcutter — to merchant, merchant — to tsar, tsar — to soldier. And soldier Ivan Tarabanov, good-natured and savvy, did тещ want to foist Grief to anyone by deceit and got along with it himself. The joy of liberation from Grief which doesn’t scare anymore, the merry juice of life which is born in the time itself was sparkling in this performance. Many people, admiring, called it truly Vakhtangian.
