Human Comedy (1934)

The performance “The Human Comedy” connected the stories of three famous Balzac’s characters: Lucien, Rastignac and Vautrin. Artist I. Rabinovich recreated in a masterly fashion the image of Paris at night with shadowy houses in the fog and splashy Seine, or a multilevel theatre with applauding spectators.

The performance was beautiful, and beautiful were its characters: slender, dark-eyed Lucien — D. Dorliak, tender, gold-haired countess — V. Vagrina and elegant Rastignac— V. Kuza.

Watching pitifully the beauty of the aristocratic world go, the performance told about the families decay and triumph of talented adventurers and former criminals.
