Town at dawn (1957)
Romantic chronicle in 3 parts
In 1957 Evgeniy Simonov put his third youth performance on stage, “Town at dawn”. The play which was created by the whole famous studio of Arbuzov before the war was called a “romantic chronicle” and spoke about the first builders of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The Vakhtangov “Town at dawn” was acted out on a plain stage floor like in an earlier studio performance. The episodes rotated with cinematographic frequency: quarrels, amorousnesses, betrayals, heroic deeds. “Town at dawn” in many ways anticipated the future famous “Irkutsk Story”.
