Zoyka’s apartment (1926)

The theatre reached out for this play from M. Bulgakov for a long time. “It’s not me who wrote “Zoyka’s apartment”, the dramatist wrote. — It’s Kuza who dipped me into ink-pot and wrote “Zoyka’s apartment” by me”. Spectators came in crowds to see the performance, but its life was short. In August 1928 a collegium of People’s Commissariat for Education approved the decision of the Main Repertoire Committee “on exclusion of the play “Zoyka’s apartment” from the repertoire of the Vakhtangov Theatre due to distortion of the soviet reality”.
